8 Reasons You Need a Website

It’s easy to think that you DON’T NEED a website, or that your website is GOOD ENOUGH. No matter what size your business is, your website is your greatest tool for growing your business. Here’s 8 reasons your website needs to be GREAT.

Reason #1 — Credibility

Having an online presence for your business suggests that you are professional. But just having any “home-made” website won’t do. First impressions matter, and a good website stands out right away. Positive engagement will get your visitors interested to find out more your company, product or services. Then your visitors will continue through the marketing funnel and eventually become paying customers. (Not familiar with the funnel? Check it out from our friends at OneMonth).

Reason #2 — Save Money

Can’t afford a professional website? Well, consider this. The cost of running a website is generally less than $100 a month, and designing a simple website is may only cost you $1,000. Compare that with the cost of a TV or newspaper ad, and you’re spending less while reaching a much wider audience.

Reason #3 — Connect With Your Customer

Your website is an online brochure. And compared to print material, you can update your content whenever you want. This makes it an effective way to let your customers know about new products or services, upcoming events and special promotions.

Reason #4 — 24/7

You may only be open 40h per week, but having a website makes your business available to customers any time. Your customers are busy, and the ability to review your products or services when it is convenient may be the difference in making a sale. Also, if a customer wants to get in touch with you by phone or email, your website is a great way to for them to find out how to contact you.

Reason #5 — Extend Your Market Reach

You may already reach your customers with traditional marketing such as newspaper, TV or radio ads. Your business may grow based on word-of-mouth from satisfied customers. You may even engage in PR through expos, conferences and other networking events. But unlike digital marketing, you aren’t able to market yourself globally without extreme costs. And with Google and SEO (search engine optimization), consumers can opt-in to find you, rather than having your business go out and present yourself to them. Traditional marketing, as well as cold calling/emailing in sales, can be very intrusive when your customer is not expecting to connect with you.

Digital marketing also has the ability to embed tracking to measure the effectiveness of your websites, emails and social media campaigns. For example, you can measure how many of your total unique visitors click on your “Pricing” or “Contact Us” tab to predict a conversion percentage. (I’ll talk more about this in a future blog).

Reason #6 — Showcase Your Work

Every type of business can benefit from showcasing work. Whether it is a portfolio, image gallery, testimonials, case studies or sponsors, you can demonstrate what your business does and how it is unique.

Reason #7 — Save Time

A website provides lots of information about your company, product or services. Without a website, you’ll have to provide that information in more time-consuming ways on the phone, in-person, through brochures or via email. Remember — once your website is up and running, you don’t need to put any more time in. Save time. Save money.

Reason #8 — Customer Service

Providing resources or answering questions are great ways for attracting new customers and retaining existing ones. A website is the perfect place to include a FAQ page, pass on newsletters and allow visitors to connect with you by phone, email and social media.
